A sneak peek at chapter 7
"Well," Henry shrugged. "You can have it as your pet but you still won't be able to take it from its mother until it's old enough."
"Of course, I know that. Do you take me as a dumb person?" he replied, rolling his eyes. He settled his eyes back at the horse and smiled. "I would like to name the baby horse Jory," he added.
Henry's brow was raised at the familiar sound of the name. "Wait, is it what I think it is?" he asked, hesitantly.
Joshua looked back at Henry and gave him a smirk. "Yes. It's a combination of our names. And it feels gender neutral so it will still probably sound right whether it's a boy or a girl," he replied, confirming Henry's thoughts.
Henry couldn't help but chuckle loudly, fascinated at the boy's whimsical idea. "How did you even come up with that?" he asked, earning a glare from the prince.
"Why? Does it really sound so funny?" he retorted, defensively. "I came up with that name since you're the only friend I have and I wanted to commemorate our friendship by naming a horse with our combined names," he added, his vulnerability showing through his words despite his frowning face. "If it doesn't sound so right to you, I can just change it," he finally said, folding his arms and looking away.
He heard the boy chuckle behind him and the next thing he felt was Henry's hand ruffling his hair. "Hey, what do you..." he looked back to glare at him but the older boy did nothing but smile at him. "What now?"
Henry ruffled his hair more. "I wasn't trying to make fun of you. I just found it amusing. Thanks for considering that thought. I feel so honored."
Joshua couldn't help but blush furiously at the boy's words as he quickly took his hand away from his head. "I-it's nothing," he muttered under his breath.
