The Man Who Will Never Be At The Front Door

There is a boy out there
          Whom I have never met
          And still
The piece of me that is not
          My mother
          My father
          My sister
          My brother
          I secretly pray is he
A sort of reincarnation within me
          And I know that
When my mother stands at the pearly gates
It will be he who awaits her
          In every moment
          Still and moving
          synchronously
And a selfish dream of mine
Is that he will be standing at the threshold
          When I am there
          Too

I find myself hoping to be
          merely a ghost to you,
          a figment,
          in memory and remorse.
          Something transcendent and unmoving,
causing a lasting unsettledness to your existence.
          Never opaque enough to hold.
          But the truth is,
years later, I do not know
if the idea of me in my own
          is enough to haunt you,
or if my name crosses your mind at all.
And a part of me hopes that
you will never behold what I have become,
something sacred to my body and spirit and mind.
But that idea that the girl I was,
          in your head and heart,
will never exist as the woman I am now,
gives me peace in the sense
that I will never again be that very ghost,
because I have outgrown your wildest imagination.

Hello! It’s Estelle the author of Off The Line, and Gravity Between Us, and Lines that Lead to Us. I’m reaching out cause I’m wondering if you would like to give some feedback on a Lando Norris story I’m writing.

It’s a really complicated idea that I have and I’m trying to enlist some people to help me with it. And you’ve been so supportive. I thought I would reach out and see if you might like to join my discord if you have discord.

But anyway, thank you so much for the support and the comments that you write on my books!

The only problem is, that I will be sharing a lot of random documents and snippets of my upcoming book, and I don't know how to organize them in a way that makes sense to someone else unless they're in the discord. I'm not a big fan of discord but I've had to use it for my masters program and it's really easy to organize things. ~let me think of what to do

Well, what socials do you have? I have Instagram, with Instagram, we could DM, but I would also be willing potentially to give my phone number, cause I hate corresponding on email
