@therealpastelrose i've learned a lot over the years but a huge part is a good balance between description and dialogue. yes, description is important, but dialogue is super important as well. i typically like dialogue better myself, and i definitely prefer to read dialogue. description adds to what's happening in the story. a good balance between the two is great.
another thing i would say to keep watch of is formatting. when i first started writing, formatting was not a big thing for me. although now, i'd say it's one of the things i look out for the most. correct formatting is largely important, especially if you're writing/planning on writing a novel, book, short story, or poem. this mainly includes dialogue (commas, quotation marks, exclamation marks, citations, etc.) and phrasing (capital letters, indentations, etc.). these are big red flags for writers such as myself because formatting can make or break if i want to read your work.
