I know what you're talking about in your bio. First off: I know what you're feeling. Strangely enough, we have the same issue: My brother, one of my cousins, and one of my second cousins all have autism.
For some reason, cognitive disabilities are not given the same about of attention as mental illnesses, not to say that those are less important. However, what people don't realize is mental illnesses can at least be treated or helped. People who have disabilities will never be cured, they can only cope with their disability and accept the life that they will have it for the entirety of their lives.
Also the fact that people use autism and other terms that imply disabilities as slang and insults just makes me lose faith in humanity. So many people don't see the damage their words cause.
