i cried when the dandelions dissolved in the breeze.
it took me straight into the trees,
and brought me to my knees.
i lost hope when the water broke
and the song spoke
about the leaves that didn't listen to the trees.
i was told they pointed away from the sun instead,
until every one of them was dead.
a poison in the blood like lead,
rebellion struck down the middle,
satisfied that peace would only last for a little.
the words flowed from left to right
when i took the training wheels off my right hand bike,
back when every action was always out of spite.
metallic friendship bloomed cold and unsure under the moonlight
only after there was no one left on the street to fight.
humanity is what dust is made of
regretting the skin we shed crawling out of bed,
for a life spent learning to stay quiet instead.
