It's not quite a romance, not quite a tragedy — more a story of self-discovery, colorism, and the beginnings of women's education in India, with just a pinch of romanticism threaded through.

            I completely understand where you're coming from, and I want you to know your feelings are totally valid — some of what happens after chapter 15 is heavy, and it's meant to sit with you rather than go down easy. That said, I can promise you the character development is very much coming, and I think you'd really enjoy seeing how it unfolds — especially once Kalyani's story moves to London. Things shift in ways I think you'll find rewarding.
