So many thanks for adding THE VISITOR to your reading list.
It is my first attempt to write a female lead character. The story tells of a dynamic woman astronaut (just like you?) who discovers something unexpected in low-Earth orbit. It goes on to change her life and the world.
It is hard SF, so very realistic. By the end of the second chapter you should almost feel you are living on the International Space Station.
