I love any well written literature from Shakespeare and Faulkner to Tolkien and Cormac McCarthy. When I write, however, I focus on science fiction. I believe the science fiction genre relies too much on war, conquest, and other trite human tropes. In reality, the future - particularly in space exploration - is fertile ground for complex stories of human development and struggle. Life in space is challenging enough without Thanos gathering rings or alien bugs swarming.
