            he shrugged.  "I just follow orders.  if I'm told to do something then I listen.  simple as that."

            yuuma rolled his eyes.  "how rude of me  ..  you have my deepest apologies  ,  my lord."  they made   a point of bowing dramatically.  "please  ,  speak your mind."

“Well I never did state if I accepted or not, now did I? You didn’t even let me finish what I was going to say, how rude.”

            he immediately attempted to struggle away.  "let me go  ,  rhee.  I need  —  I need to do this.  they want it done  —  I don't have much time."  they didn't actually remember how much was left on the list at this point.  he just knew that it wasn't completed.  

    `` need sleep ... `` rhee repeated , now pulling yuuma away from the stuff they were working on . he didn't want them to get hurt because they messed something up

            "sleep?  no  —  no  ,  I can't do that.  I have  ..  have work to do.  a lot of work!  so much work  ..  "  yuuma let out a strained laugh  ,  eyes flitting around as it spoke.

            "I'm only kind when I want to be.  that means you deserve it."  they directed a smile towards the other.  a smile that grew at the last words from rhee.  "you did?!  as in  ..  I get to eat   /  more  /   of this?  ..  are you an angel?"

    a slow nod left in appreciation . `` you're too ... kind . `` he mutters , fingers tapping against his side . truthfully,  he didn't even remember where he learned this recipe . it just came to him like muscle memory . `` i made ... extra.  leftovers for this ... week . ``

            yuuma gave a quick and firm nod.  "   /  so  /   much better than what they usually feed me.  you should be a chef  ,  y'know?  I bet you'd make it big."

            "you weren't always this way."  his hands shook as he tried to pinpoint which was the right potion to give.  it was a bit hard to focus considering the situation.  "I hear you were pretty good at helping people before  ..  you can be that person again  ,  but not like this."

      `` don't care ... don't want to be used ... for violence  . `` he strained out , hands falling against himself too tired to fight the other off any longer .

            "stop saying stupid things  ..  "  yuuma mumbled while ignoring rhee's request.  "dying is letting them win  ,  yeah?  that'd be really lame of you  ,  y'know?  so just  ..  just let me help."

MISC :
            
            ¹  they can't hurt him too much  —  their ability is too important.  even so  ,  they have to keep him in line somehow.  they wear a shock collar  —  one they've worn for so long that it feels abnormal not to have it on.  the shocks used to be small  ,  but now they're to the point that they leave lasting harm.  were it not for his own potions  ,  it'd likely be dead already.
            
            ²  sometimes the mixtures running through their veins make him feel as if he's drunk or high.  this is something they often abuse.
            
            ³  it tends to stockpile potions.  they're less likely to drain him of his blood if they already have it.
            
            ⁴  there are still days where they're hooked up to machines that drain his blood.  their recipes are written down now  —  it's easy enough to replicate them.
            
            ⁵  don't ask it for genuine first aid  —  they don't even take care of their own wounds.  potions are easier.
            
            ⁶  they have various cuts on their hands and along their arms.  when they're tired  ,  they'll extract blood by making a cut instead of properly taking it.
            
            ⁷  they wear glasses  —  a fact only important because of how often they lose them.  it's basically blind without them.  they absolutely refuse to wear contacts.  
            
            ⁸  they can sometimes get away with asking for things.  for example  —  he has his own laboratory.
            
            ⁹  he ha a cat  —  another thing they demanded.  his name is hiro.  they think it's funny ..
            
            ¹⁰  although their health potions can heal just about anything  ,  they can't prevent scarring.

PERSONALITY :
            
            sometimes he can seem like the only sane person around  —  other times he fits right in.  his mood shifts depending on the day and his condition.  how much sleep they've gotten  ,  their recent care  ,  if it's working  ,  etc.
