I've been writing for quite a few years but only just started to write historical fiction. It's been an amazing journey immersing myself in another time, particularly one as interesting and consequential as the Gilded Age (or the Late Victorian, or the Belle Époque, take your pick).

It's much more than fine clothes, mansions and the other trappings of wealth. The means by which people amassed so much wealth - and changed the world in the process - have had a much greater impact.

I'm using this period and these people as a backdrop to a new series of stories that I hope will be as much fun to read as they are to research and write.

So please let me introduce Celestia Dodd.

Read about her adventures in New York in 1889 and see how the bright lights and glittering jewels of the Gilded Age had a very dark side.

New chapters weekly.
