august 1988 -> may 1989; senior year!
the last bit of childhood that iris can hold to herself and be reassured its 'normal'. iris's senior year. she finally finds herself willing to get into a relationship ( maybe with dustin, screw andy ) and takes on a lot more responsibilites, captain and top flyer of the cheer team, academic star in beta club, and helping with student council as well. not to mention applying and visiting colleges and universities to see what to do with her life. when it comes to being captain? iris strives to do as chrissy would do, the kindest girl iris met when she first walked into hawkins highschool her senior year. iris could never forget el, or chrissy's impact on her life, chrissy really opened her eyes and her heart to a new level of sympathy and kindness. of course, iris decided to major in biology as if a appreciation to mr. clarke, at emerson university to be a biotech research scientist, iris's senior year honestly didnt suck, compared to her freshmen year to junior year, it was the most calm year yet! iris makes sure to spend the last bit of time she has with her friends, and she's living life one foot, one step at a time :)

after el's death, it had hit the poor druid h͟a͟r͟d͟, and god did it take iris f͟o͟r͟e͟v͟e͟r͟ to understand el's reasoning on why she would make such a sacrifice. her own life. iris hates thinking about it and at first she grieves her own way, distancing herself from others and just trying to survive ( keep her grades up, manage student council, beta club, and cheerleading all at the same time, at least there was no monsters? ) eventually though she begins to open up again to her friends, a few weeks before their senior year, felt like it took her maybe four months to start healing from the pain. that was her friend, one of her closest friends, and in a way iris felt maternal towards el even if they were around the same age. look at how much progress she made? from a lab escapee weirdo on maple street to a friend, a daughter, a sister, the mage in their party. iris could never forget el's impact ( and neither could anyone else ). now though it's just iris and max as the only two girls in the party, which honestly sucks. she still loves will, lucas, mike, and dustin, dont get her wrong.
