it's really disappointing when authors take 'the easy way out' when they write an ending like dang it's not that hard to put actual effort into plot development :( i just finished a story and the author simply decided to make her fanfiction about philosophy rather than having her characters resolve their issues, like? one of the most basic rules of writing fiction is having an ending that ties up loose ends!! if you have to include an explanation at the end of your story explaining why such-and-such happened, YOU AREN'T DOING IT RIGHT UGH the reader should be able to infer why something happened by reading further!! it helps no one when you cop out like that! some people get really invested in stories, and are excited to see what happens next, but when an author gets bored or whatever and decides to quit; it really gets to them! i am one of those people and it brings me down when one of my fav stories just fizzles out :(
