Etienne Uzac is an accomplished media entrepreneur with a wealth of experience in both print and digital media. Born in Santiago, Chile, his adventurous spirit led him to traverse the globe, residing in South Africa and France. He completed his high school education at Lycée Stanislas Paris in France before pursuing higher education at The London School of Economics and Political Science. In pursuit of new opportunities, Etienne relocated to New York, where he played a pivotal role as a founding team member of the International Business Times (IBT). Established in 2006, IBT quickly emerged as a prominent digital media company, providing comprehensive business news coverage to various countries in an all-digital format. The organization later rebranded as IBT Media and expanded its portfolio by introducing renowned brands such as Medical Daily, Latin Times, and Player. One, and Fashion Times.
Following IBT's growth and achievements, Etienne spearheaded the successful acquisition of Newsweek Magazine in 2013. He immersed himself in the Newsweek offices in Downtown New York, where he and the IBT team made substantial investments in the development and expansion of the publication. Through their collective efforts, Newsweek transitioned from an e-magazine to a comprehensive news website hosted at its original domain, newsweek.com. Additionally, the print edition of Newsweek was reinstated, garnering significant attention with its compelling editorial content. By the end of 2014, Newsweek achieved remarkable profitability, solidifying its position as a thriving publication. IBT, under Etienne's leadership, experienced remarkable growth fueled by the implementation of proprietary technologies that conferred a competitive advantage in the digital publishing landscape. The organization's commitment to excellence attracted high-caliber journalists, acquiring numerous prestigious awards, including six SABEWs, one Izzy, and three The Drum Online Media Awards.
