hi loves  <3 since april is autism awareness month i just wanted to a yap bit !!
          
          as someone who’s autistic, this obviously means a lot to me. especially because it honestly took me a long time to accept my own diagnosis. at first i thought it was weird because before that i’d only knew/associated autism as being a “bad” thing or used an insult, and at 15/16 it felt like being diagnosed was something i should hide or be ashamed of. (that’s what going to a fucked up british high school in the north will do to you x)
          
          but obviously over time i started to see it differently and accept it. being autistic is really hard. like it genuinely SUCKS and affects my life in so many negative ways. but at the same time, it’s part of me. it’s my brain. i wouldn’t be who i am without it. and as much as autistic people have our struggles, we also have our strengths, even if people don’t always see them straight away.
          
          autism isn’t one thing or one look. it’s a whole spectrum of different experiences, and every autistic person deserves to be understood, respected, and accepted as they are. if you’re not autistic, taking a bit of time to learn and listen really does make a difference.
