            neither wants to think too hard on what this is , on what this could possibly imply .  it was simple , just a commander and his fellow soldier having a drink together , nothing more .  there were no implications , right ?  graves didn’t hint on anything more and yet he couldn’t help but feel his lingering feeling that he’d been continuing to ignore from the moment that he got here .  “ to basic shit  ,  y’know like..  to good  health and all that ?  ” he let out another laugh , this one somehow sounding more carefree , as if just being here allowed him to become just a little bit looser .  which the alcohol will surely help with anyways .  “ i won’t talk your ear off on work related issues .  things have been a breeze aside from last week but never hurts to keep an eye or an ear out from any signs of trouble .  ” graves was a very observant man , he wouldn’t allow his boys to get into even more deep shit .  especially not since that one night , a night he would never talk about to someone else he’d be in even more hot water .  “ fuck it—  cheers !   lets get this night started  ,   yeah ?  ”

             ⠀⠀⠀⠀ theo doesn’t notice the lingering glance, doesn’t want to. but he does sit up when graves offers to pour the liquor, and he gives a little grin. when theo’s glass is set down, he grabs it. he falls short at the commander’s question, his blue gaze lifting to look at him as the rim of the glass is already touching his parted lips. he then thinks about it for a moment, eyes narrowing.
             ⠀⠀⠀⠀ “what would we toast to?”  it wasn’t a question he normally asks, given he doesn’t even participate in the other toasts, but hey—- it’s fine, he’s fine.  “as long as it ain’t no work shit; i’m tired of hearing about it when i’m not getting paid to.”  a lie. theodore michael hayes was a sucker for any and all information, that was that.  “just.. come on, graves, let’s toast and then get absolutely pissed.”

            silently he would watch but was quick to make sure his eyes weren’t lingering for too long .  the commander wasn’t open about his sexuality nor was he fully closed off either , this was just another thing  he’d like to keep private .  graves tried not thinking too hard on it and instead turned his focus elsewhere , he would then lean forward , taking that very same bottle of alcohol .  “ you’re much too kind .  ”  he offered a quick smile , wasn’t long before a small laugh escaped him as he then opened the said bottle .  “ alright  ,  alright .  since you wanna keep complainin’—  i’ll pour it .  it’s only fair .  ” he offered a small shrug , pouring a decent amount into each of glass , setting it down as soon as he was done .  “ so  ,  you wanna make a toast or you wanna get straight to chuggin’ ?  ”
