I have two favorite manga: Sgt Frog and Dr Slump. I also really like Yotsubato (my icon is a combo of Yotsuba and Sgt Frog). I've also started reading Attack on Titan, which is quite excellent. I have stacks of manga that I haven't even started yet.
I have three ferrets: Hannah, Clarissa, and Malachi. I lost three this past year: Amy, James, and Claudia; but they all had very good lives, and I try to remember that when I'm feeling sad about losing them.
I do a little acting in community theatre. I also try to participate as much as possible in my local church.
I'm here because someone suggested it to me. She's a really amazing person, and not just because we have a LOT of things in common. It's because she recommends that I try new things, and I trust her. She has much more wisdom than most.
I watch two shows all the time: the Daily Show and the Colbert Report. That's all the news I need. I have a few shows that are either rarely on or have finished their run; they are Battlestar Galactica (the new one), Doctor Who, Babylon 5... pretty much anything that rewards paying close attention. And it doesn't hurt if it's sci fi (although BSG and B5 are actually more political shows than sci fi; and Dr Who is more fantasy, I guess?).
I have a type of bipolar. I take medication that works really well, but puts me at constant risk of stroke and death. Tra la.
I loved the Harry Potter series, but was not that impressed with the movies. The acting (and actors) are terrific, but the books have some wonderful subtexts and really thoughtful statements.
I do my best to make people happy, but there are a few who feel threatened by me. Thankfully, they're in the minority, so that's their problem, not mine. My opinion is that those who control others through manipulation will eventually lose everyone.
I do a little writing now. I used to write poetry but never showed it to anyone. Things are a little different now. I hope that you like what I've written.

Don't part with your illusions. When they are gone, you may still exist, but you have ceased to live. -Mark T...
