Hello! I'm the girl with the "Pendejo" comment in the story of 'A destructive element'Sorry for not answering you in the same comment, I deleted it in a panic attack, I am glad that you are interested in Spanish, I am from Mexico and in my country it is used A LOT, The people you've talked to are right. Generally the word is an insult towards a person who is an idiot.

@idiotic_mistake An example "Pedo" - Do you have any conflict "Cuál es tu pedo?" - When things get difficult "Deja de hacerla de Pedo" - There is no fix anymore "Ni pedo" - someone is drunk "Está Pedo" - I am drunk "Estoy pedo" - someone wants to fight "Se puso al pedo" - Let's go to a party "Peda" - Greetings "Que pedo?" - Referring to someone as a good person "Buen pedo" - Someone who is a bad person "Mal pedo" - To get someone's attention "Agarra el pedo" - Refer to something from another dimension "Es otro pedo"

@idiotic_mistake Jaja We also use "Pendejo" when you have a friend and you are too confident to insult them. It is clearly a game. You can also use "Estás bien pendejo" To refer to someone who is making a bad decision or even to refer to someone who is clueless, There are many phrases and words with which you can express yourself in Spanish, some words even have many meanings

@ NitziaCitlaliSantiag ah, thanks a lot I was once told from a guy on Omegle to say "Quitate Pendejo" when there's someone walking slowly infront of me, but most people I asked said it meant something different, so I wasn't quite sure (not as if I COULD just walk up to someone and say something like that, I hate talking face to face, unless I know that person)
