Oppressed?
Asked me if I’m oppressed,
And I’ll tell you no,
I’m quite the opposite of what you think you might know.
In fact I’ll tell you that I’m an independent, intellectual and free willed person
that doesn’t care about what media thinks or claims she is.
I know who I am and I tried to hold onto my beliefs no matter what people say.
And when they see me walking down the streets they know right away that I am a Muslim woman,
Held dear to her people, a queen at birth no matter my race, status, health or wealth.
A muslim woman is beautiful just for the fact she’s Muslim.
I pray that Allah gives every women;
The Hayaat of Mariam,
The iman of Asiyaa,
The patience of Khadijah,
The strength of Sumaya,
The courage of Asmaa,
The love of Fatima,
The determination of Hafsa
And all the characteristics of the most righteous of
Women in islamic history.
Amen!
