            “ you act like it’s the worse thing in the world  ,  when in reality it’s really not .  ”  caesar would then roll his eyes , finally shifting his gaze towards joseph as he then replied . “ i’ve been alone for most of my life  ,  jojo .  i think i would be fine  ,  not to mention i’d still have suzi and maestra .  ” he’s gotten use to their presence , but there was something unique about joseph which he refused to dig deeper into . “ likewise .  things would be a lot quitter for one .  and for two..  i wouldn’t have someone in my ear complaining about my smoking habits .  ”

    `` spend time by myself ? me ? caesar , you wound me ! `` he grinned , completely unfazed by the other's irritation . `` besides , if I left you alone , who would keep you from becoming a grumpy old man before your time ? `` he leaned closer, flashing that infuriatingly smug smile . `` and admit it , you’d miss me if I stopped bothering you . ``

            “ and yet you still managed to annoy me even during training hours .  ” caesar took his head lightly as he let out a sigh , his chartreuse colored irises focusing elsewhere instead of the man who constantly insists on bothering him .   “ i WAS enjoying the silence but of course you had to come and ruin that too .  regardless  ,  it wouldn’t kill you to spend some time by yourself either .  ”

            “ ‘excellent company’ isn’t exactly how i’d describe it .  ” caesar half mumbled into the glass he’s been drinking from until joseph came along .  wasn’t every day the italian indulged in pleasantries but since it was after training hours , he could do so happily .  “ and again  ,  i was quietly enjoying my evening unlike YOU decided to interrupt it .  ”

       `` and that's exactly why im staying ! I am excellent company for starters . and you totally are brooding ! `` he points an accusing finger towards caesar before sitting himself next to him . arms crossing now .

frankly, the brunette had only attempted to take caesar’s cigarette for a quick fix! despite how accessible cigarettes are in this country, celeste hadn’t smoked for nearly a week attributable to wanting a specific brand and a lack of money… hence the self-justification for targeting caesar solely for his choice of cigarette. had she just gotten it in one go, she would have been on her merry way. but she had become overly bold by trying to snatch it without some sort of flattery. the choice to obtain that specific brand of cigarette was set in stone in her mind. she was just a mere stranger, after all; surely no hard feelings would be attached if she were successful in taking his cigarette! 
            
             “no, I definitely saw a bubble, but never mind that. “  celeste brushed off casually as she’d seen more  things.    “surely you wouldn’t mind if a kind lady like myself took that nearly finished cigarette off your hand!”   celeste suggested as she took a good look at the blond.  although she found him handsome, celeste thought he had the look of a player!

            caesar acted calmly as if nothing just happened , the cigarette remaining betwixt his fingers , nearly snatched away by an unexpected target .  he knew using hamon was a tad uncalled for but it rendered harmless , more than capable to control how much to inflict without causing ‘serious damage’ .  not that hamon was used for such a thing , it was for defense , for destroying vampires..   all types of ‘monsters’ .  the blond soon let out a hum , verdant eyes quick to zoom in on the attempted culprit .  “ perhaps you’re just seeing things  ,  signora .  ” he spoke in a relaxed tone , smiling ever so slightly .  “ although..  were you ever taught how it’s rude to try and steal something that isn’t yours ?  including a man’s cigarette .  ”

            at witnessing the shift in joseph’s expression , caesar had not expected such surprise but that only furthered in his amusement .  it felt oddly funny to see just how surprised the other seemed to be at caesar’s own honesty .  “ thought you would’ve expected the last part considering how you attempted in tricking me at a game of cards .  ” as if caesar himself was any better , he was just as bad in that regard .  especially considering , he too attempted at cheating against joseph .  “ suppose i got it from my father .  he would often collect them himself .  seems that fell down onto me too .  ” he let out a brief soft laugh , felt weird being so honest but at the same time oh-so freeing .  it felt like they were actually getting along , caesar and joseph often would banter back and forth .  this however ?  was different yet the same somehow .  “ no one’s untouchable  ,  jojo .  not even me  ,  i just simply keep to myself most of the time .  though i’m not a complete ‘loner’ .  ” caesar got along well with both lisa lisa and suzi q , suzi arrived shortly before he did .  each have seen the best and the worst parts of him .  “ family is fine .  considering i know bits and pieces of your own  ,  like your nonna for instance .  just..  keep it light .  ” anything but his criminal past , which he did not feel like unraveling to joseph yet .

   joseph blinked once , caught a little off guard by how much caesar actually gave him . he truly wasn't expecting much of an answer to be honest . then his grin spread , almost softly . `` whoa , hold on — reading ? darts ? card games ? and here I thought you just stood dramatically by windows lookin’ miserable . `` he laughed , nudging caesar’s shoulder . `` and collectin’ lighters ? that’s a weird one . kinda suits you , though . `` for once , he wasn’t teasing as hard . joseph’s eyes flicked over caesar for a second , catching that little bit of honesty buried under all the attitude . `` doesn’t matter if you’re proud of it or not . everybody’s got habits . `` his tone dipped , more thoughtful . `` guess it’s kinda nice hearing you talk about normal stuff . makes you seem less like some untouchable pretty-boy hamon genius . `` he begins to think of what to ask next , a small hum leaving . `` before I continue , what exactly is too personal for you ? can I ask about family since you seem so keen on that ? `` he was testing the boundaries here .

            “ i mean what i say .  there’s nothing much to note  ,  i’m only amusing you for now but don’t go think i’ll do this ALL of the time .  ” caesar answered with another huffed breath , a sound of mild irritation .  he didn’t even know why he agreed to this , perhaps the fellow hamon user was just feeling a tad bit generous today .    “ right  ,  let’s see how far you can hold up on that .  ” as much as joseph could be a nuisance at time , caesar trusted him enough to not delve too deep into more..  personal territory .  “ is that all you think i do after training hours ?  brood and smoke ?  ” the previous annoyance from before melted into an odd amusement as caesar then let out a snort at that question .  “ i DO have other hobbies .  sometimes i read  ,  play darts  ,  all types of card games .  whatever best passes the time .  i even have a habit of collecting lighters .  NOT just because i smoke  ,  that’s something i’m not the most proudest of .  ”
