"The only thing I was fit for was to be a writer, and this notion rested solely on my suspicion that I would never be fit for real work, and that writing didn't require any." -Russell Baker
I am a writer. It's what I was born to be.
Granted, I did not know this for the longest time. It was a journey, a journey through my short life of 16 years.
I remember reading the Chronicles of Narnia, which my parents made me read. I remember reading two pages at a time, waiting, waiting until I was allowed to stop.
Suffice to say, I did not like reading. It was boring.
But then something changed. I changed. I went from a deplorable child to a teenager who could not stop reading.
I know what did it.
Enter the scene, J.R.R. Tolkien. Ah, the man himself. Suddenly I had a thirst for story that would not be quenched.
And thus, I am a writer. Not because I'm good, not because I feel it in my veins, but because I need story. The rest is supplemented therein.
"Creative writing is the work that never stops; it continues when you mow the lawn; when you chat with your friends; and when you sleep at night."
