I'm doing some guest blogging to promote the Blackquest 40 launch -- here's an article I wrote about the benefits of writing in different genres, which I thought a few of you might find interesting:

          	https://bookschatter.blogspot.com/2019/05/gp-blackquest.html

Still grinding on a couple manuscripts off Wattpad but hope to be back to my stories here soon, in the next couple weeks!

jeff_bond

@RainerSalt Well, you are exhibit A for writers who can cross genres easily and effectively! :)
On the art -- no, I hooked up with an artist in Arizona who does all the art -- for Blackquest, and also all the pulp stuff for the Third Chance stories and thirdchancestories.com. Ethan Scott is his name. I've got him attributed a few places but need to get more consistent doing it.

I like the 1950’s comic art feel of your book covers
          	  Are you the artist ?
Also, one of my writing teachers had us rewrite a few chapters of our books in a different genre, using the different rules of that genre
          	  It’s an excellent exercise !

Hi there! I’m a manager for an event hosted in the Dreamland Community Discord server called Write That Sentence. I just wanted to let you know that your book was used for this event where players are given the blurb of a book and try to guess its real first sentence. They’ll write what they think could be the opening line, and then everyone guesses which one is real.

Only the first sentence of your story and its blurb are shared, and everything stays within the game.

If you’d like to see what people came up with or just check it out, you’re more than welcome to join the server! I can provide the link, if you like.

No pressure at all — I just wanted to be transparent and let you know!

Hey, long time no hear or see! (I miss the newsfeed)
Just happened to come across your cover for Blackquest 40 and wanted to compliment you.
Hope all is well at your end :D)

@jeff_bond
Haha yes but then I'm excited about everything I write - it means I'm still breathing :P)
Happy to hear you are enjoying success with your writing, well deserved.
Many of the authors that were busy back then have faded away and it's much harder finding my idea of a good story that entertains and has a modicum of maturity.
Also, I'm a great grandfather now so my writing here is the same but at home it's back to warm and cuddly stuff :P)
Your offer is very generous and I truly appreciate it but honestly, just getting your reply was a collectible highlight.
Stay safe and be well and pop in any time!

@lyttlejoe hi there! I'm sorry for the delay in responding -- it seems my email notifications were getting filtered, and I haven't been active here at Wattpad in a very long time. I miss the feedback and interactive with folks like you, but once I started putting books out for sale on Amazon and needed to maintain a social media presence (sigh), it just got too hard to keep it up. I do post semi-regular short stuff for my three Third Chance heroes (Quaid, Durwood, Molly) through their Facebook and Twitter profiles. (@QuaidRafferty, @DurwoodOakJones, @MollyMcGill3rd).

How are you? Writing anything just now you're especially excited about? You were in Canada, right? Not too far from me in Michigan. Hard to believe all that's gone down since we were last in frequent touch.

The version of Anarchy you're reading -- if I remember -- is a little rough. I ended up nixing all Molly's talk-to-the-reader segments, and humanized Quaid quite a bit. (Shameless plug alert ->) The final version made Kirkus Reviews' Top 100 Indie Books of 2020 (along with Dear Durwood): https://www.kirkusreviews.com/best-of/2020/indie/books/ I'd happily send it to you if you like, either in e-book form or a signed paperback. Just say the word.

I hope everything's right on your end, and again, thanks for checking out another of my stories!
            Jeff

Jeff, you are by far one of the best writers on Wattpad. It's nice to see another author who takes his craft seriously among a sea of unedited word vomit. I'm really enjoying Blackquest 40 (5 chapters in and will be picking it up on Kindle, too).

Being in the startup world for the past 10 years myself, I can relate to the despicable actions of corporate tech figureheads, and their feeble attempts at generating company culture.

If you are willing to explore my first novel "The Frame", your feedback would be extremely valuable to me.

          Cheers!

jeff_bond

@TitusDecali thanks for the kind words, and for checking out Blackquest 40! I've added The Frame to my reading list...I've struggled to keep up on Wattpad lately but I'll try to take a look this week!
