Keith M. Lyndaker Schlabach (KMLS)

I grew up in Meridian, Mississippi. I spent 15 years at a Retreat Center in the mountains of West Virginia. In between, I went to college in Virginia which brought me to Washington, DC as part of a university program. I also spent some time in Central America. Throughout my time in West Virginia, I remained connected to the city and after my time in WV, moved back to the DC area to live. I then moved to Ohio where I currently reside with my wife and daughter.

My writing is influenced by the geography of my life - urban, rural, campo, Southern, Appalachian, Latin. My work is best heard as I am primarily connected to the oral tradition. Everything I write I read aloud.

Writing is prayer for me. I began writing at a very young age and it has become a spiritual practice. I am at my best when I am writing on a consistent basis.

I write poetry, short stories, essays, fiction, nonfiction, songs, and am working on several novels.
