I'm an avid reader and want to be an author. I've worked on stories off and on for decades. I have 6 kids (2 boys [oldest & youngest], 2 adopted daughters [middle ones], 2 from 1st marriage, and 2 from 2nd marriage) ranging from 42 to 21. I currently have lots of completed stories, mostly shorter and a few currently in the process of being written. I had retired from software and had time to write. However, my wife is a store manager, and I got conscripted to work anywhere for 40 to 100 hours a week leaving me too exhausted to do anything else.
