As kids she wasn’t shy around him it was when she developed feelings for him when she became shy around him. Cole and the reader have been friends since birth and practically did everything together but one day when the reader was 7 she had to move away which left her and Cole absolutely devastated but the reader returns to Ninjago City when she’s 17 and she meets Cole again when he saves her and carries her to safety during an attack. The reader instantly falls in love with Cole and after months of hiding her feelings for him she finally tells him and they become a couple.
