I'm a Gen X single mom to one Gen Z teen boy and five Gen Alpha four-legged fur babies. I've always been a dreamer and have been writing ever since I was in grade school. Over the years, I've amassed pages of notes-story ideas, character summaries, collections of fanfics, novels, quotes, song lyrics, Bible verses, YouTube videos-anything that inspired or moved me. But most of my works in progress came from dreams. I can't count the number of times I've woken up scrambling to jot down snippets of conversations from my dreams. That's how my writing process usually begins: a single conversation between faceless characters that I dreamt about.
I never considered making a career out of it, except for that one time back in college when I sold a manuscript to a local publisher. Yes, I'm a dreamer, but I'm also a realist. That's why I chose a different career path to put food on the table. But I never, ever stopped writing.
So, why am I choosing to share my work now? Well, it's because of my son. About two years ago, without any prompting or influence from me, he announced that he wants to become a novelist. Turns out, my son is a dreamer too. Who would have thought? The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I'm doing this for him and for all the dreamers out there who might read this and find encouragement. To never stop dreaming. To never stop writing, even if no one else reads it but you. Who knows? You might even make a career out of it. Or maybe not. But remember, that was never the point.
Note: Everyone's writing journey is unique, so please don't judge mine too harshly-this is my story. I'd love to hear about yours! I'm still in the process of setting up my writer's website and social media, but for now, feel free to reach out to me here on Wattpad!
