Fantasy is about more than just regurgitating old tropes. Fantasy exists to help us explore what our past means to us, and what our past-and our folklore-tells us about who we are in the here-and-now.

"You hurt me, I'm gonna have to hurt you."
"Okay, okay, go ahead."
"You've got a wire on your arm."
"WHAT?!"
