I've felt the pain that was all to real,
Cried out when all became too much,
Cringed away when you were too far to touch,
Inside myself I went, 
Closed off from the world that didn't care,
Turned away from the fear.

Yet here I am, lying awake,
Going over in my head where you are, 
Wonder how you are,
Wishing I could see you, touch you, and even feel you. 

But when I reach out, I feel nothing but air, 
You are gone, 
And in your place an emptiness lies, 
There is nothing, no more, to muffle my cries.
