@lgbtq – That my experiences on the asexual and aromantic spectrums are not as unusual as I had thought. I'm in my eighties, and I bumbled through most of my life unaware. My stories now focus on characters trying to make sense of the complexities of human interaction.

Hello, Wattpad Writers & Welcome to The Shortys 2026!

Whether you came here with a head full of ideas, a love of stories, a soft spot for poetry, or absolutely no idea what you’re going to write yet, we’re so glad you’re here.

For the next few weeks, writers from different corners of the community will come together to create, experiment, challenge themselves, and, hopefully, surprise themselves along the way.

There will be captivating worlds waiting to unfold.
There will be verses shaped by rhythm and feeling.
There will be words that make us laugh, ache, gasp, think, and remind us why we love stories in the first place.

For now, take a breath, have a look around, read through the instructions, and get to know the writers joining you.

The challenge is about to begin, and we can’t wait to read your words.

Bring your curiosity and imagination, and let’s have some fun!

Every conclusion that makes you think of how it started and how far the characters have come. I’m sooo bad at finishing series for this exact reason T^T

“Casual” and “i wanna be your girlfriend” remind me of my characters from “In Denial” since it’s full of queer tragedy and the consequences of pushing away your sexuality instead of accepting who you are.

"All the things she said“ reminds me of my own character from "The warm Light in the cold Darkness“. Especially the line "Daddy looking at me, will I ever be free?“ reminds me of the problems Emily has in her family

@lgbtq I already submitted. But can you look out for the fact that I've changed my username (previously Afrojarose15) after I submitted my book there so it wouldn't be a hassle. I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, thank you
