( @LunarEclipse726 ) awh you're so welcome! I'm really glad it helped <3
and no, I don't think your OC being half witch would hinder her connection with Rhydian at all. In fact, I think that could actually make things more interesting, especially if you let it affect how she sees herself. Like, if she's constantly torn between three sides of who she is (wolfblood vs human vs witch), that's something Rhydian would definitely relate to. He already feels caught between the wolfblood world and the human world (especially at the beginning of the series, which is where he's coming to term with what wolfbloods are and how to control his instincts, etc), so if your OC's also struggling with identity or control, that's a huge shared experience they could bond over. I don't think being "fully" wolfblood makes Maddy a better match - what matters more is how your OC and Rhydian connect emotionally, not how their abilities line up. It could even be something that brings them closer, and gets the ball rolling for their romantic development later on in the book. They're young teenagers struggling in a world where they can't fully express who they are - lean into that. And yes, Maddy also goes through this, but that brings the three of them closer as friends. If you're careful, you can explore the whole 'being torn between two worlds' concept differently for both of them.
And as for them being really different on paper - that's not a bad thing at all! Some of the best relationships in stories come from contrast. If your OC is more reserved and Rhydian's more impulsive (as we see several times throughout the series - kid literally stole t-shirts and then sold them at school. our feral law-breaking king!! lol), play into that. You can build connection through how they react to each other. Maybe they clash at first (like when Rhydian firsts arrives in Stoneybridge and she's cautious of him), but eventually come to understand each other.
