IMPORTANT
This may be hard to understand, since we are expecting judging to happen soon.
The awards may be postponed until at least December at this rate, that's when I'll have holidays.
Feel free to unfollow if you've followed and if you think it's too long of a wait. I am not in any way asking you to be okay about this but just wanting to reflect and explain. I am going to be doing five courses this semester in graduate school on top of student helper with editing an anthology and some workshops as well as teaching/tutoring.
I had to step back this morning as I was reflecting on workload and the feasibility of doing these awards. And so I came to this decision.
The workload is heavy as there are seven genres eligible at the moment, but only three judges, which means we judges have to read at least 50 chapters of each genre (5 entries multiplied by ten chapters) and that would mean (for example if I'm judging romance: 12 x 10 = 120 chapters to be read and judged for romance category) and we are not talking about binge reading, we would be carefully reading and giving scores/reviews. I wouldn't mind doing this, if school wasn't starting beginning of September then I would totally try. I don't want to pile workload on top of the judges unless they are sure they can handle it too.
I’m sorry for starting this up again when I wouldn’t be able to handle finishing by myself. I hope you would understand how much workload there is with only three judges and seven+ categories. If you have any suggestions on how we can handle this situation let me know. I am open to passing the awards torch to someone who is capable of hosting and organizing judges etc.
Thanks everyone especially everyone who entered and wanted to give the awards a shot.
