Josephine Belasco (mevsoutside) is a mutual-expressionist artist whose work speaks from the belly of personal truth. A writer, painter, performer, and speaker, she is known for mixing emotional depth with raw vulnerability. With a background rooted in psychology and a life marked but solitude, Jo found herself drawn inward from an early age. Art for her was never just a hobby, it was a lifeline. Her journey as a creative didn't start in classrooms, but in the quiet corners of her room, doodling dreams and writing stories she was too afraid to speak aloud. Her art is a map through the labyrinth. A love letter to the self. 

During Jo's freetime she enjoys performing her writing at open mics in the Central Valley, frequenting Tracy's Word Bubbles and Caspians Bookstore. She shares her writings and stories on her YouTube channel, (jo - YouTube) as well as on the publishing platforms Medium and Wattpad (mevsoutside (@mevsoutside) - Wattpad).

Josephine's passion for psychology, rooted in Jungian-Freudian analysis, allows her to have an ongoing dialogue with the psyche. This is the driving force behind her art and writing. Her creative endeavors not only serves as a way to cope and understand herself, but doubles as soul work----a visceral listening to the unconscious where imagery becomes insights and emotions can be transformed. A place where the psyche is hardly a puzzle to solve and more of a mirror or map to be used as a force of reckoning and reawakening. She doesn't shy away from the hard stuff, it's what keeps the candle burning. A sort of esoteric surgery she practices in her work, cutting into the emotional tissue of her life experiences and exposing what's hidden underneath.
