Hey! I just wanted to say I'm reading the stars on the staircase for the fourth time and I'm giggling with the mental conversations like it's the first time. I love this story so much I never get tired of reading it even when I read it last 3 months ago. Hope you're doing well
Hello Dearest Readers,
There’s been something I’ve needed to say for a while now, and I’ve put it off, but here it is: I’m going on hiatus, How long? I do not know. I am not thinking about the story very much of late.
The guilt is nearly overwhelming when I get asked about updates. So I am formally letting you know this tree is going dormant. I have been lucky enough to be cast in a community theatre show, which is a long underused part of my creative side. I’m hoping the play, and shaking up my routine in other ways will inspire fresh buds on my writing tree.
I really hope this won’t make anyone upset. I took some time off already to work on my mental health and I’m seeing a lot of positive change, but the writing feel more like an obligation than a joy. So I need reset. I love you all so much, and I’m so grateful for you.

While it's bittersweet to hear that you're going on hiatus, I completely understand and support your decision. Your wel''being and happiness are what matter most, and if taking this time for yourself and exploring new creative outlets is what you need, then we're behind you 100%. Im so excited to hear about your involvement in community theatre! It sounds like a wonderful opportunity to rediscover a different part of your creativity, and I'm sure it will bring you so much joy. Please don't feel guilty about stepping back. Your writing has brought us so much joy, and it's important that it brings you joy too. We'll be here whenever you're ready to return, whether that's soon or further down the road. In the meantime, take all the time you need to recharge and rediscover your passions. You deserve it. Since I don’t currently have a backlog of written chapters, after this week’s post I’m going to take some time off to get caught up, I hope you all will understand. Also today’s chapter is delayed as I am at my inlaws for lunch and have wait to finish editing. Alas, real life is interrupting my normal schedule.
I still hope to post today.

As a Christmas Present, I’ve published one very short chapter today, I’ve got another short one to post tomorrow and then on the 25th Santa can come and leave some newly mated Severus and Madelyn cuteness under your tree.
Today I have dropped the first seven parts of my new long fic Belonging! Check it out if you haven’t yet. It is still a reader insert but I had to give her a name because I switch POV every chapter and I can’t hide behind the first person like in SOTS.
It’s more of a slow burn at first but once that mating bond has snapped… well you just wait and see.
Chapter updates will come every so often, I’m not committing to a posting schedule right now. Let me know what you think!

I posted earlier today and the app seems to be glitchy. I am getting some views and comments but when I try to see the chapter on my phone app it does not appear :( Hopefully I will not have to take it down and re-upload.
I have three or so bonus chapters on A03 already for Stars on the Staircase and I will publish them in my feed here at some point. I may also post my original ending but it needs some touching up.

I’ve loved your writing during all of the chapters so far, so I really don’t think you could disappoint me lol. I’ve actually taken a break on reading the book just so that way I can wait until it’s finished lol because if I sit there and finish what chapters I haven’t read on the book that’s not finished, it’ll just eat at me. Lol but so far I love it and I really do hope that you finish it Someday! This is one of my favorite Snape fanfiction books!

As far as updating The Stars on the Staircase goes, I’m struggling this year so far with my anxiety levels and it’s really eating my creativity. I have drafts, but I’m sitting with them for now.
I have not abandoned it or anything, just trying to nourish my creativity tree so it will bloom again. Its coming to me little by little.
When I started I never imagined writing more than ten chapters, and never could imagine I would reach this many readers. I am so scared to disappoint you all, so I’m not rushing to post something mediocre.
I read every comment and I appreciate you all so much!

Take all the time you need. Your book is so fantastic that I’m sure we’ll all gladly wait. Take care of yourself first.
