Filling his books with explosive and action-packed tales of adventure and derring-do, James Richardson draws on years of globe-trotting, archaeological excavation, and museum work to build an interconnected universe of novels, character blogs, and social media feeds.
He has recently adapted and amended his bestselling 2011 novel 'Moon Mask' into a serialised saga, modelled on the binge-worthy, multi-episode narrative arcs so dominant on streaming TV.
Rather than considering himself a traditional author, James likes to think of himself as a 'storyteller' and is always on the lookout for new and imaginative ways of telling stories, from Twitter-based 'choose-your-own-adventures' to text-chat tales, interactive maps, and even digital escape-room games.
Now working for an award-winning museum, James has a First Degree in archaeology and has excavated and explored ancient ruins from Britain's Roman frontier to Peru's Chimu civilisation and beyond.
Most of his inspiration stems from years of travelling to six out of seven continents, dozens of countries, and encounters with societies from the Americas to Asia, from Europe to Africa, and Australaisia. He has been welcomed into the homes of traditional communities in Nubia, Fiji, Bolivia, and Guatemala and has been privileged to participate in some of the sacred rituals and ceremonies of these incredible people.
From megalithic temples in Malta to trekking through the steamy jungles of the Amazon; from swimming with sharks in the Pacific, exploring the ruins of South East Asia and travelling across the plains of Africa; to slogging through deserts, dancing the haka with Maori and hiking across glaciers, he's been pretty much wherever Raine and King go (though with fewer explosions, chases, booby-traps and villains!)
He is always eager to connect with fans and welcomes feedback, suggestions, or even just a friendly hello.
