"We can't always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we dance to it." Have a great day/night ahead!
@ABCDEFGH10_1 It's a bit ironic this is the day I get this message lol but thank you! Have a great day/night too ❥
Been working on a new book that'll be my spin on a genre I hate. I'm honestly excited as shit for it even though I won't be publishing it until it's completed (which hopefully won't take as long as my other books have considering I won't be doing long chapters with this).
Maybe I'm being nitpicky but ngl it kinda bothers me that Wattpad says all money people spend on their paid stories will be donated to help refugees, yet they had no problem directly donating 50k to fucking BLM? Don't get me wrong, I think it's nice they're doing something period, but still, why can't they just donate money like they've done in the past?
@thebastards I don't know if they had the option to consent or not but I do know that while PS isn't enough to live off of, authors can make pretty decent money for what it is (I read like 500-1k+), in the post they didn't go into details about it. They did say they'd match employee donations to other organizations but that still isn't going to be close to what they gave in the past. They also said another thing they're doing is pausing ads in Ukraine and Russia.... Because not having ads on your Wattpad sure helps those going through war I guess...
@Xaprith Honestly, I agree - also, did the authors even consent to Wattpad donating their money? But fr though, seems a little sus that WP doesn't just directly donate, instead of taking money from authors.
Not to mention, taking the money out of PS takes that money from those authors. Not saying those authors are more important than war refugees because they're not, but still I have to ask, why not just donate some of the company's money like they did before? It feels like a way to just get their sales numbers up while also trying to do charity work. But again, maybe I'm being too pessimistic lol
Question, have any of you ever had your book stolen by another user?
@MissLacybee Thanks for telling me! I wonder if it being fanfiction plays a role in the systems not working? On Wattpad to file a copyright against a book you go through the DMCA, and fanfiction can't be copyrighted. But either way, on Wattpad that's the experience I've heard the most from different people over the years. Some people have success with reporting stolen books but a lot of others are left to figure it out themselves. Not to say Wattpad has favorites, but, the only people I've seen who have had ease with the copyright reporting system and who praise it are bigger authors.
@Xaprith The first two weren’t actually on Wattpad (fanfiction.net and HarryPotterFanfiction), but the third was. The reporting system didn’t work, unfortunately, on any of the sites, but for two of the incidents I was able to talk to the author. They were fine with it and it turned out they were just fans who had been inspired to write something too (which made me feel a bit bad). The first time was the worst, as the author had plagiarised multiple books and refused to even acknowledge that they’d heard of my work. Luckily, my readers were supportive and the book eventually vanished. Basically, reporting systems haven’t worked in my experience, unless you’re on a small website and manage to contact the owner. Hope that helps!
I leave for a few days to recover from my sleep deprivation and caffeine withdrawal induced depression and see my book has gained 11k reads, woohoo.
@manny0101 I can't do energy drinks, I drink coffee and teas. But when my insomnia gets bad I try to avoid caffeine cause the last thing I need is to be up longer lol
The fact the book beneath WYSS in #Discussion is a DDLG guide on how to be a Little....
HEY YOU! Want to write an interesting story but have no clue what to do? Check out this plot shop that was just launched by this lovely bitch, @diadembellum https://www.wattpad.com/story/290266352
HI SO IK THIS IS RANDOM AF BUT... WOULD U/ OR WOULD U KNOW ANYONE WHO WOULD WRITE THIS?! I MADE A HUGE ASS PLOT FOR A MURDERY MYSTERY BUT IK MY LAZY ASS WILL NEVER WRITE IT "1,200 metres under the sea, a crew of eight marine agents travel stealthily in an alloyed steel submarine. On an intelligence mission, they have yet to realise that there is a traitor among them. That's until their crewmates start to go missing. Dead in the eeriest places of the submarine. They still have eight days before they resurface, can they find the killer? "
Is it bad I still can't believe people born in 2008+ are on the internet and shit? Like holy fuck I feel old and I'm not even that old myself.
@manny0101 I understand where parents like that come from, I've been on the internet since I was around 9 and I've experienced and seen way too much shit. But, a lot of parents fail to realize keeping your kid too sheltered can be just as harmful as keeping them not sheltered enough.
