Hmmm... I'm not sure if this would help but what if Ron and Hermione were sent to look for him and when they found him they were in shock, disbelief and were a bit in denial. However, before they could say anything Harry cut them off to explain then after explaining all three(or if you'd like to add Draco; four)of them thought of how to hide this from everyone for awhile and how to explain it to Hagrid before revealing it to everyone else. Something like that. Honestly though, I'm not much of a Harry Potter fan so sorry if it's not supposed to go like this.
