Hey there — I hope this message doesn’t come off as intrusive.
I’m reaching out because I’ve been building a small writing community called Scribbler’s Sanctuary, a space for writers who enjoy storytelling, worldbuilding, poetry, and creative exploration without pressure or ego.
I came across your writing and genuinely felt it would resonate with the kind of atmosphere we’re cultivating — thoughtful, imaginative, and supportive.
We run optional prompts, themed lore, and collaborative storytelling events, but mostly it’s a place to create freely and be encouraged by others who care about the craft.
No pressure at all — just extending an invitation if it sounds like something you’d enjoy.
If you’re curious, I’d be happy to share more.

Out of curiosity, do any of you mainly read just queer books and if so, why is that?
For context my straight, cis sister implied that I was heterophobic (lol) for only really being interested in queer books and told me that wasn’t diverse reading. As if queer books aren’t diverse? She was absurdly angry with me for having a preference for queer books and not being very interested in straight ones.
Anyway, I was so flabbergasted that I didn’t really have a good reply so I decided to try collecting data from other queer readers to see what you have to say.
Feel free to let me know your thoughts. I don’t mind long comments <3

superrr extremely late to this thread but i’m going to leave my own thoughts!! i am cis girl and bisexual and i do mainly have a preference for reading queer books, mainly because they tend to be a lot more emotional than straight books and i love it when characters get to express more of these complex emotions (especially male characters, which is not something usually seen in straight romances). unfortunately, i read less lesbian romances because i do tend to get quite picky with my books and many of them have some questionable plot lines (for example teacher x student ) which immediately make me drop the book. sadly there aren’t as many wlw books out there as mlm so the choices tend to be quite limited
however, on the occasion i do read straight romances i do like them to have some sort of element of diversity/emotional depth or generally just something that makes them stand out from what you usually see from straight books to make them more interesting for me. plus stereotypical straight books just seem pretty boring and sexist to me nowadays

@F0rr3stt yeah, makes sense. I have straight relationships I like too. I just don’t actively seek out straight content when I have so many queer books I still haven’t read

I mostly read mlm books/books with gay relationships cause it reminds me of me :3 I also think a lot of the time it’s just better written
There’s some cases where I love straight relationships (I love all ships in SoC for example) when they are written really well
