Part of being a compulsive perfectionist is that things are never officially done.

I want to set down my work and move forward, but lack of engagement is a b****.
Is it my story? is it my writing? is it the visibility?

Whatever it may be, I've done another overhaul on my work.
I think people drop most in chapter 1 because of how many things are left unanswered, and that makes it confusing.

Chapter 1 now doesn't leave the girl in question. The girl is identified from the start, so one that one question isn't left to linger and gives following chapters some additional perspective.

Testing it. So we'll see how it goes.

Naming “the girl”

… for anyone who has read any part of my story, I’ve been thinking about the set up I have for my story so far.
Chapter 1 is vague and introduces the first POV as “The Girl”

Would it make this story more interesting if I don’t make her vague, and I name her from the start?

What if immediately you know this character is in almost every chapter of the act in other POVs?
It no longer makes her mysterious.
But may make this story more easy to follow.

          Thoughts?

Spoilers: She is very mission focused, and may have been unintentionally unavailable and distant from people she loves.

Hello friends ❤️
I have recently started following more authors as support.
I want to make it known that I am not an author who wants false interest. I will not engage in transactional votes.
I want my votes and reads to come from people who have interest in my story. That’s important to me so I know how well it is doing, and what I need to work on.

I am writing 2 stories and both are incomplete. Most of my time goes to writing- not reading. If I read it’s going to be something I enjoy and I will read more than one chapter, vote/comment.
Currently when I have the time for it,
I have been reading the work of
          zuperztarz
This is an author with intriguing stories and are an awesome person too.

I will try to read more stories y’all have, but it takes me time to get into reader brain.

-romance novels are not my thing, but I love when there is a bigger story with romance threads.

If you see me voting for your stories at some point, please don’t view that as a “I need to vote for this author too”. If I vote for your story, it’s because I like it, not because I’m expecting anything in return.

If you check out my story and do like it enough that you’d read more than one chapter, I would however appreciate the vote ❤️

Thank you all! And thanks for following me

How do ya’ll continuously publish on schedules, when writing is so emotionally demanding and changes how you write?

Asking for a friend. Kidding. Me. I need this advice.

page_mars

@cloversgotanidea my world will end! You do have a point. Honestly, I give myself two weeks to write one chapter but it doesn’t feel like enough given how long it takes for edits. It’s hard at an emotional low because words don't come and I can't get into the right emotional state for the chapter.

No one else will write it though as you say. I want to write but I don’t want to publish poop.

@page_mars Honestly, don’t write on a schedule. You’ll get burned out. What you need to remember is that the world won’t end if you don’t write. Of course you should try, but don’t feel like you have to have a schedule. But, I suppose, what I can recommend is that no one else is gonna do your writing, so you have to do it sometime. Might as well get it over with, you know?
