Phil Adair's upbringing was typical of any young boy growing up into adulthood, that is until the following event occurred...
Seized from his hotel room vacationing alone as a small child in 1967, Phil was raised by a family of Costa Rican tree monkeys.
Discovered unkempt, yet gleefully happy, he was rescued by a group of lost New Zealand tourists on a day trip to view local wildlife in the dense foliage known as the "Tamarindo" region.
Unable to communicate verbally, he nevertheless became popular with medical staff and local wildlife experts via a series of unusual hand gestures to indicate his daily requirements.
Eventually Phil was hidden aboard a visiting cruise ship and found himself heading for New Zealand in a specially designed cabin with swinging ropes and platters of freshly cut fruit served daily.
During his lengthy sea voyage he not only learnt unbearably bad English from the Spanish crew, he could also (courtesy of Cable Television) repeat large tracts of dialogue he absorbed as he passed the hours viewing old Hollywood movies.
Following a short stint aboard as a cruise ship entertainer during his voyage, he also briefly became part a double act with a female midget contortionist.
Unfortunately for Phil, the relationship was painfully brief, though it never ceased to diminish his unquenchable yearning for women who are compact in their appearance, yet highly energetic...
"Will I Ever Sleep Again? is Phil Adair's first book.
Phil would like to thank the Costa Rican Government as well as Cruise Ships Of Central America for their warmth and generosity.
