I first had the idea to write Kindler while I was still in high school, and it was still a fantasy epic about knights and kings. This changed, however, after I discovered anthropology and a love for prehistory. I studied these subjects while attending Iowa State University, where I graduated and finished my first drafts. With a flourish of fantasy, Kindler is my way of showing how near to us I think Neanderthals were. I am confident in my portrayal and still writing now.
