In a couple of chapters, we will have a heartbreaking flashback, I am scared to write it, but here is a little teaser for now:

          Christian’s arm wrapped around my back. The other followed, pulling me into him until my face pressed against his chest.
          
          He held me tightly.
          
          I couldn’t remember the last time someone had held me like that.
          
          “You won’t go…right?” 
          
          “No. Never,” he murmured softly. “Try to sleep, okay? I’ll stay awake. I won’t let anyone come near you.”

Me, writing the new chapter: Okay. I’ll write a cute emotional reunion scene, keep the sex normal and minimal, then move the plot forward…
          
          Nathan & Aylin: Hold our beers. We’re having toxic, destructive sex first. Screw your plot.
          
          Me: Uh...can we at least communicate first?
          
          Nathan & Aylin: Communication is for stable couples. You know we are not.

I am finally back from my work trip *phew*, and will be writing over the weekend. The new chapter will be up on Saturday evening or Sunday. Here is a little teaser till then:
          
          
          "You punished me for a whole month, you walked away from me again, remember?" He muttered lowly, almost bitterly, "You broke your promise and left me alone with my head." His grip tightened slightly. "You know what that does to me, you know how fucking much it hurt me." 
          
          “I just needed space,” I whispered.
          
          “And I needed you,” he said. 
          
          His eyelids lifted, and our eyes met in the mirror. "You should make it up to me now, don't you think so?"

          "I want a piece of him, too," Emma said, her voice lethal. You see, Nikolas might not kill me, but she would, she really, really would. 
          
          "Emma—" Nikolas warned, his fingers tightening over my collar, yanking me closer to his side. She tugged at my sleeve in response, her fingers curling around my arm like she was calling dibs. Wow, they are really fighting over me. 
          
          I smiled, "This is the most affection I've gotten all month, honestly."
