It has never crossed my mind that people think 1k words is long, I mean, I've enjoyed writing and continued to write sometimes when I have time, and everytime I always had a timer with me for no reason, it was set to 15 minutes, it was just so I could look how many words I got in that span of time, I never panicked instead I stayed calm so I would focus on writing rather than how much time has passed. I was also consistent with writing many words, then just added a few more if I wanted to, then I was great to go. Every time there was an event or performance task to create an essay, I screamed in joy internally. For my classmates, well they weren't really happy about it, since most of the time it was my english teacher and my adviser (who btw, teaches math so no matter what, the language was always english). They didn't give us much context on what to write, but they just said to write whatever we wanted though they did say whenever it needed to be about romance, problems, or other stuff. Maybe people aren't that much of a thinker like me but I get ideas day-to-day and I don't get to write them down, so this was an opportunity for me. My classmates do say that it's too long, where I don't agree with them, whether it be one full sheet of paper filled, it wasn't long enough for me. It was because I wanted to express more of the story but since I wasted much paper due to writing, and my classmates lowk needed paper too, I didn't get to make them longer yet that was fine.
Though due to the fact I write, I would say this is on me, but most of the time the minimum words were only 100, so I could say that's already good enough for my classmates who don't write at all...
