Just read some insightful pieces from @katiegoesmew and @Saramitra_ and I'd like to share my own thoughts on AI and writing.

I personally think, AI can be a great tool for brainstorming ideas and help you create your outline structure or improve its logic/development. Because then it's used as a tool—like it's meant to be. Same for checking your grammar, suggestions of improvement, etc. The slippery slope is when you let it write everything. because at first it might read great, perfect even. But over time, what AI lacks is the human understanding of nuance, context and depth.

Though it might be tempting, we shouldn't let ourselves be dragged down that path—even if from pure pride in our craft. The SAG strikes did not happen for no reason. It goes beyond just copyright and the very blantant way it steals art.

AI was a heavy subject between my courses, and academia is torn, much like the rest of the world. In tech, they want to keep researching it, keep polishing this invetion which seems to make our tasks easier. Yet, from a social and cultural standpoint many researchers bring out the same point—with relying on AI we're at risk of giving up the one thing that separates us from the machine. People might end up even below it. The big corpos wouldn't be happier than to pay a couple bucks on AI rather than a proper salary to line their pockets, and heaven's know we already had plenty of awful media content pumped out in recent years, let's not go even further.

I could expand more on this, since I have research articles on it too, but I'll stop here for now since I find the prospect very grim.

@randomlygore I have a visceral reaction to AI. I'm an artist and from the time I was in grade school and said I wanted to be an artist when I grow up everyone laughed at me and said I would be better off being a nurse or something useful. It was insulting. I hate how everyone looks at artists like we are less than. Then came AI and stealing millions of peoples art just to turn it into soulless slop. And now it's even worse as an artist because people are like "Oh, I can just go to 'AI generator name' and get it for free, better and faster.". It k!lls me.
And now from a writer's perspective I feel like they (AI) are taking it away from me (and all of us, really) as well. I read that there is a company that wants to publish something like 500 purely AI written books in 2025. This last part might be a little farfetched but what is to stop AI from stealing our story ideas when we upload them to be edited? Like we put our ideas into the machine and now everyone who goes to use it get your plot or parts of it anyways. And I know it's kind of hypocritical because I am posting my story online and people / "AI" can steal it but I don't want to like physically hand it over.
lol, sorry if this was like extreme conspiracy theory ^.^'

@randomlygore oh sure, you can send the article on discord, i'd love to get in the nitty gritty of it, but yeah, i get it, it's like becoming slaves to the system willingly, all in name of efficiency and time saving

@Saramitra_ not even just that. A lot of social science articles discuss it, because from a historical standpoint, we always replaced systematic work with machines. But if we end up replacing highly cognitive, affective work with AI, (which I agreed with the articles) it's not far fetched to see a future where AI takes over these jobs and we are left with the very very menial jobs that would pay close to nothing. I forgot the authors but if I search it, I can dug up that study again

I never realized I hate writing in 1st POV as much as I do now writing this story.
Now it's too late to change it and I am pulling my hair each time I have to describe the characters thoughts as part of narration...fml

iburnrice

@randomlygore lmao that's the same reason why I tried it out
People tend to get confused when you use the 3rd person and they request the first person saying it helps them enjoy the character. But damn! I don't like writing in first person :(

@iburnrice esp cause like, of you wrote a character that s very far removed from ur own personality it's like—what would this B think? Like, does it make sense? *proceeds to check MBTIs, Eneagrams, astro charts* I STILL DONT KNOW *throws hands and screams*

Hi everyone, it seems I only have grim updates to share. I will keep this one short because this is no longer about me. It's about my mother and little brother, who my father's family will now evict.

The legal notice sent by my father's family requires them to leave their apartment by January 31st. I have included most of the details of our situation in a proper text for the GoFundMe I created. So, please, if you have a couple of minutes to spare, give it a look.

          The link: https://gofund.me/7cacbec1

Even if you can donate only a few bills or can only share them, it would make the difference between giving my mum and brother a chance to continue their life and grieve in peace and the worst-case scenario.

@lemonsindecay thank you so much! Recently, I decided to open a Ko-fi so I can at least share content and maybe people will be more willing to help. I consider patreon too... :((

Hi, everyone. I know I've been MIA for a while now, and I have to say I'm touched that so many of you have reached out to me either here or via Discord. It really brightened my recent dark days. :)

Unfortunately, after 3 months of fighting Neuroendocrine cancer, my father couldn't conquer his illness and passed away not too long ago. This means that not only am I heartbroken to have lost him, but that my family needed me more than ever.

I have already shed my tears and have spent all the words when it happened, so I don't have much more to say besides that this hit me harder than I could've ever expected.

ATM, I'm trying to wrap up my final assignments, prepare to go help my family and be together during the holidays. It's an eerie feeling going back home when I know he won't be there any longer...

In the meantime, while pushing through this obnoxiously intensive Master's (because, throughout all this, I somehow got drafted into the selection for the excellency programme) I finally managed to write again.

You know how they say, 'There's no better writing time than when you are having your heart broken and in misery,' or whatever. I just made this up.

From now on, I plan to prepare my chapters in advance to hopefully post without a hiatus (or at least not a long one; I might take breaks for my mental health now and then). So far, I got around a month of content, and all the chapters have been scheduled.

So, if any of you are still here, Backstreet Angels and I will be back on January 4th!

Let's read each other again soon. <3

          'Til next time,
          Reea.

@randomlygore I am so incredibly sorry to hear about your dad. I can’t even begin to imagine how hard this must be for you right now. Please know that my heart is with you during this time, and I’m here if you want to talk to someone. Take all the time you need to grieve and remember you are not alone in this ❤️

hey hey! sorry to trouble you, but- since you're my judge for Artistic Genre Fusion category in Artistic Expressions Awards hosted by janefanfics, I wanted to inform regarding my work, "MISSION", the book as such has been taken down because I merged the series into original work, however, the content remains the same. If it's not too much trouble, would it be okay for you to refer from:

          https://www.wattpad.com/1466990935-bullet-train-to-murder-onc-novella-%E2%9E%B8-disclaimer

and consider it in the same way? It's the same work, MISSION, but it has been merged to the parent work, "Bullet Train to Murder"

          Have a great day/night!
