Rema Reynolds Vassar, PhD has committed her career to advocating for educational equity, particularly for marginalized and underrepresented individuals. Her work addresses the needs of those often excluded from educational opportunities, with an unwavering dedication to improving the system for all students.
With expertise in educational leadership, school culture, and organizational development, Dr. Rema has worked in diverse contexts, including underserved communities and global educational settings. She has trained and mentored educators, administrators, and counselors to help them engage with critical educational challenges, particularly race, gender, and class. Her work also explores how educational policies affect student outcomes, emphasizing the importance of equity and inclusion for minoritized communities.
Having spent over two decades in K-12 education, Vassar has served as a teacher, counselor, and administrator. Today, she empowers students and parents to create more supportive and inclusive school environments. She also serves on the Michigan State University Board of Trustees and teaches Educational Leadership at Wayne State University.
Dr. Rema strongly believes in the power of education to create positive social change. She has dedicated herself to creating spaces where communities can unite to work for a common goal of educational justice. Her research and presentations have taken her to over twenty countries, where she has shared her knowledge on developing inclusive leadership and promoting equity in schools.
