R James Dailey writes speculative fiction for readers who refuse to run and want to fight.

I'm a dad, writer, reader, musician, chef, and lifelong collector of strange ideas. I write epic fantasy, horror, science fiction, and the occasional story that refuses to stay comfortably inside a genre.

I'm currently releasing Recutlikine, a completed 170,000+ word epic fantasy, every Tuesday and Friday. It's a story about faith, empire, ancient beings, and the potential people carry within themselves. The story is complete, the release schedule is set, and it will run to its conclusion over the next year.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually reading, playing guitar, disappearing into a video game, or talking shop with other writers.

I'm also active in the Pacific Northwest writing community through the Olympia Writers Group and serve on the board of Write on the River.

I recently sold my first short story to Monstrously Misguided, and I have a horror novel currently under consideration by a literary agent.

I love talking about writing, publishing, and craft, and I believe stories are better when people can talk about them, so comments and conversation are always welcome.

Currently serializing: Recutlikine
Also writing: horror, science fiction & speculative fiction
