I'm saying this for awareness, no matter when or where you're reading this from:
As many of you probably already know, George Floyd was a man who had been killed by a police officer for not much reason at all, simply because of the allegations that he was a "bad man" due to his skin colour.
This event has led the internet to blow up with #blm and #blacklivesmatter. This is a cause we should all support.
I see many people discriminating against black people. I'm Asian, so I can't quite speak for them, but I can say I feel bad for them and feel that we are able to overthrow racism all over the world.
Some people have been getting amd about this, however. They're complaining about their own race, complaining about "why only black lives"?
All lives matter equally but, to be fairly honest, white people are the most privileged race and has faced less discrimination. We're screaming that black lives matter because we support them, black people don't get that much support. We want to show the people that race doesn't make us any different. Black people have to deal with a lot of discrimination and hate daily, from violent police officers to plainly racist and mean people.
Some people have said that there had been more white people victimized than black. I'm not sure if this information is true, but, if it is, then it doesn't mean you can compare it to what black people have to go through. When a white man gets killed by a police for no reason, the officer is sent to jail almost immediately. However, for black people, we have to scream it out. We have to protest and, even then, it's still taking a lot of time just to get the message through.
I'm cheering on for Americans, I hope they can share the fact that black lives really do matter.
