"Kana Kana Ruchira" sang Thyagaraja, the Carnatic Music stalwart. Wine and alcohol intoxicates a human being. It makes them forget who they are. It does take them to elevated flights of fancy. But the very next morning it plonks them straight on the ground reeling with unpleasant withdrawal effects.
But true literature and music are not like that. The more you read, listen, sing or experience, the more beautiful and elevating the experience becomes. It helps you grow as an individual. The magic is not evanescent. It is permanent. You discover new meanings with each reading or rendition of the same text. And somewhere down the line, you also discover yourself and your true potential.
I grew up surrounded by books of English literature and Indian Carnatic Music, so much so that they have become a part and parcel of myself. I read stories, I sing, I write stories, mostly fan fiction. I don't earn a single penny out of any of these pursuits. But they give me infinite happiness.
Happiness too is something in this materialistic world, isn't it? People run to the Himalayas to find it. I find it within me in the book I hold with my palms, in the creative reams I spin out of my pen, or in the songs I sing or listen.
So this is me: P.V.L. Sailaja
Please do check out my works if you connect with them at some level. Let me know how you feel about them. If you have written something interesting and creative, feel free to suggest it to me.
