Haya continued to associate with Jaroslaw who informed her he was now part of the resistance. However a supposed friend of Jaroslaw reported his activity to the gestapo. He was hang with piano wire outside of the police station. Haya was devastated but she knew she had to be strong for her cousins. Though she had kept her meetings with Jaroslaw secret, a nazi sympathizer and former classmate Zofia Noga reported her to the Gestapo. Haya was arrested for conspiring with the resistance and taken to the Gestapo head quarters. Through out all the torture she endured she always steadfastly insisted her innocence and the innocence of her family. The Gestapo however only believed that her family was innocent. She was proclaimed guilty and sentenced to death. On November 18th 1942 Haya began her last day on earth, the only regret she had was that she was not able to say goodbye to the people she considered her sister and mother. The last thing she said was to her guard,"Life is beautiful, live it to your fullest and have no regrets, but sir, what you are doing you will regret, but I forgive you." The young guard died believing she was guilty, but always remembered her as a beautiful and brave young woman who chose to forgive her murderers and die without hate in her heart. Haya was executed by firing squad, she was 16 years old
