STORY IDEA PREVIEW!!
Madalina Olinescu. A name that meant nothing to the vast majority of people. But, to a small percentage, might have meant more than everything. She was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a lover, a coworker, and many other labels that a person could be. But it was hard for her to see that for herself. She didn’t think much of herself, if she were to be completely honest. Yes, on the surface, she was all of those things, but the meanings behind each one, she felt she wasn’t worthy of the title. Yes, technically speaking, she was a daughter. She has a mother and a father, but she didn’t feel as though she was worthy of the title “daughter”. She was a challenging child to say the least, and she knew that she disappointed her parents a number of times. To her, that didn’t scream, “daughter”.
She was a sister, but she didn’t fill that role in her mind either. Nor friend, nor lover, nor any term that one might’ve placed on her. She didn’t feel as though she had earned any kind of title placed on her that one could revere her as. She hadn’t deserved it.
She was simply herself. She didn’t like to think of herself in those roles. She didn’t play favoritism, or place one person above another just because life happened to make her related in some kind of way. She treated everyone as they were the same. Her parents, her siblings, her bosses, her friends, her coworkers, her partners; they all receieved the same treatment. Obviously, there were boundaries, she wouldn’t use the same humor with a friend that she would with her boss, but they got the same respect from her.
This might read like some kind of obituary. You may be wondering, “is she dead?”, or “why is this written in past tense?"
The answer is yes, she is dead.
