Response to Recent Events
11 Apr 2026.
This is the first part of the announcement; there are a total of two parts to this announcement.
While I was looking forward to writing 'Force' & developing the character of Dr Ivy Lim, I was hesitant because my previous fanfictions were not very well-received (I received no comments on Ao3 except for one of my best mutual friends—thank you). It didn't help that the conception of this character came about at a very difficult and distressing time in my life, as I was not coping with the pressure of preparing for university entrance exams. I wasn't sure if my writing was good at all. But this wasn't true.
I have been blown away by the engagement and the love that so many of you have for Dr Ivy Lim to the point that the words 'thank you' is not enough to show my appreciation. I love every single one of you that have supported her and I want her to keep going despite the obstacles she faced.
So, here was what concerned me and disappointed me.
I was running out of Season 1 of the source material, so I waited just before Season 2 was released in its entirety to see how the show treated relationships between the characters. The effects of the events after Season 1 was undoubtedly long-lasting and traumatic. However, while Dr Robby's behaviour towards many characters was uncalled for (to say the least), his behaviour towards Dr Mohan was disturbing. I understand that there are many reasons why Dr Robby would act this way, I am concerned that it condones the often misogynistic attitudes in medicine among male doctors.
Is everyone perfect? Of course not. Have I faced stressful, traumatic events and still had to be a leader and mentor, like Dr Robby? No.
I can't relate to Dr Robby, and I'm aware this is intended/as he is pushing everyone away. It doesn't take away from how dedicated he is, and I noticed he's most critical of Dr Mohan because he's the meanest critic of himself. But in my view, this wasn't explored well.

This is the second part of the announcement.
Women of colour in medicine are valued and they deserve to be supported. Dr Collins and Dr Mohan supported each other when Dr Collins was able to see past 'slow-mo' for the type of practitioner that Dr Mohan truly is— dedicated, meticulous & competent. All of which the creative decisions for this season has continuously tarnished and reduced to "Dr Mohan is not fit for the ED (plus she made multiple egregious mistakes and misdiagnoses) and thus seeks to practice medicine away from the ED".
The whole reason why I decided to write fanfic in the first place was because I wanted to see medical practitioners in media that represented my identities—whether that be a non-binary person, as a person of Asian heritage, or as a person that has experienced many many 'worlds'; as someone who must find home, balance these worlds, and fit in at a young age.
I will try my best as I continue to write 'Force', among the many fics that I have planned.
