Mates, I need advice. I have a public speaking competition coming up, and I need to write my speech. I'm torn between two ideas.
1.
Main Idea - Moral renewal of the world and governments
Sub Points - Restructuring the world power structure (more power in newer nations and not the allied powers), "eat the rich", we live in a world catered to the elite, gaps in economic status widening, power doesn't belong with the governments it belongs with the people electing them, people united are stronger than division, corruption, or authoritarianism. etc.
2.
Main Idea - Racism and how the world has become desensitised to it.
Subpoints - How ethnic last names make people less likely to get a job over people with "white" ones, global shifts in power, migration, and cultural identity, and how racism plays into geopolitical narratives, how world leaders use race to divide their countries to make them more susceptible to control (using machiavellian methods to get what they want), fear of the unknown, etc.
These are just rough ideas, and nothing is finalised yet. It's an 8-minute speech, and I'm competing with other kids aged 15-18. It's a national-level comp that tends to lean a little conservative based on my previous experiences with the judges and organisers. And as a Middle Eastern girl with an extremely ethnic last name, I'm already at a disadvantage So which one do y'all think I should write about? Bc I'm stressing, and I need help
